1) How long have you been in the industry? How did you get started? Have you had fun in the industry?
I’ve been in this biz for over 4 years now, and yes it’s a TON of fun!!! I started with my boyfriend and it was really just by accident… we made a tape, and happened to find a buyer after the fact. That lead to another tape, and so on until we created mistysxxxgirls.com, and the Bring Your Own Bitch DVD series. We started out by shooting other real life couples, and that’s still my favorite thing to do. Now we shoot multiple video lines, and have added my fetish DVD line Misty Haze Says Fuck My Feet! To our DVD library. I’m having a blast, and I’m enjoying the opportunities I have to do new things!!!
2) Are you concerned with the rights of the adult industry to make and produce movies/web clips?
Of course I’m concerned it’s my business and my personal liberties at stake!!! I love my job, I enjoy what I’m doing, and the feedback I get from my fans tells me that my work is of value to them. I work in a legal, legitimate and safe business that thrives on a loyal and loving fan base. I am also exercising numerous constitutionally protected rights that we all hold and SHOULD exercise and hold dear, such as the right to free expression and the right to the pursuit of happiness. If you’re an adult, you DO have the right to decide how you spend your cash and your free time exercise it wisely and often!!!
3) Alot of the problem people have with the adult industry is the misconception that "pornographers" are always trying to lure under age people in and make "kiddy porn".
Could you talk about what it is actually like on a set, as far as having ID, signing model releases, having a AIM test, etc? Have you seen or heard of anyone in the legitimate adult industry knowingly using minors in films or the web?
I have NEVER heard of a legitimate adult producer working with or expressing an interest in working with children. Current legislation requires that adult producers provide 2 forms of valid US Government issued ID’s proving that every model they shoot, male or female, is 18 years of age or older. That’s pretty cut and dry! Additionally, of course, we all sign a release providing identifying information. All professional adult performers do get tested for STD’s on a regular (monthly) basis, and it’s a practice I enforce with my talent just like the major producers in LA do (AIM). It’s a safe and smart industry and I enjoy the fact that most producers seem capable of self-regulating in the best interest of the health and safety of all the performers.
4) Do you ever get offended by shows like South Park or Family Guy? What do you think about shows/writing that offends people?
I am definitely not spending emotional energy being offended by TV shows LOL!!! I enjoy some TV to relax at the end of a long day, and I’m as liable to be laughing at South Park or the Simpsons as I am to be intrigued by the latest series on History, but I don’t take any of it too seriously. I know that some Americans live their lives by the dial, but I just chose to spend my time with more tangible pursuits LOL!!!
5) What do you think about some of the stuff that pushes the limit in the adult industry, stuff like Max Hardcore, Kink.com, and JM Productions?
I think that Max should have included more behind the scenes footage showing how much the talent enjoyed what they were doing LOL!!! But he knew he was pushing the line, and perhaps he should have thought more about what the industry as a whole was experiencing, rather than just how far he could push the envelope… But he did nothing wrong, and I don’t believe he committed a crime worthy of jail time or the revocation of property he suffered.
6) Have you ever been asked to do a scene or something on film that you thought was crazy and wondered if it was offensive/legal? What was it? Did you do the scene or the act anyway?
Well, I know this isn’t the fun answer, but I do my best to be well educated and aware of the legal ramifications of the field I work in… I generally know if I’m being asked to do something illegal, and no I’m not interested in breaking the law. I shoot real girls who enjoy sharing their sexuality with the world, and that’s what I enjoy doing too!!!
7) Why do you think America has such a fascination with sex and with regulating sex?
Ha!!! Why are ANY people fascinated with sex??? All humans are and I believe it’s a survival instinct for the species. But Americans tend to differ in that they smother sexual expression, and it’s especially bizarre in the eyes of the rest of the world because we smother sex and glorify violence. I believe it’s a flaw in our social makeup, and one I hope to be an exception to!
8) You are at the highest level of the adult industry. A lot of people in the industry have told me that most the people in the industry don't care about protecting free speech, or really about anyone other than themselves and their money.
Do you think this is true? Do you think a lot of the people that are new to the industry care or have any concern about free speech and protecting the
right to make movies?
Well, I am flattered!!! I am CEO of my own production company, but I am also a performer and a director, so I believe I have some extra insight into the industry… Many of the current leaders and up-and-comers in the industry are just like me though, and began as “nobodies” who worked their way up, or started their own companies. I think those types of people in the industry DO care very much about our rights to pursue this business, and the value of the product that we offer society. I am sad to say that I don’t know if all of the new talent that walks in the door really recognizes or values what they do every day, though. I wish more of the industry did, and I think we all should~inside and out of the adult industry. This “industry” is part of a larger adult community that needs to wake up. There are organizations out there like the Free Speech Coalition that fight everyday to protect the freedoms that ALL OF US take for granted, but adult industry professionals especially need to be more active in support of their freedoms!
9) Is the "character" you play in your DVD's anything like you in real life?
Hehehehe!!! I don’t play much of a “character” really! I do really love sex, and I love sharing my sex life with all of you. I don’t “fake” anything, and I don’t cast girls that do. When I’m on camera, my goal is to cum, make my partner cum and I know that will get my audience off too!
10) What is the craziest thing you have done/or scene you've been in on camera?
VAN SEX!!! LOL!!! My longtime fans will remember when we shot with Ophelia Wood and Bobby Long in the back of the Aerostar! It still makes me laugh to this day! I think some of the footage ended up on BYOB #3 or #4, but it will never do that day justice! There’s nothing like driving down the highway with a 6’ giant in the back of the van getting his dick sucked while a State Trooper was on my ass!!! No tinted windows. It was an adventurous day LOL!!!
11) Have you been involved with trying to change people's opinions about the industry?
I can’t say as I actively pursue anything like that, no. I believe my work is a statement in itself, and you either like it or you don’t. If you don’t, then don’t buy my product. But if you love good quality reality porn with solid sex from pretty girls, then you should check me out!!!
12) Why do you think the industry is so caught up on the portrayal of young- a lot of DVD's always say "18 & 19 years old" etc?
There’s plenty of “barely legal” footage in the market, but today’s hot trend is “MILFs” and even “Cougars.” The fact of the matter is that there’s somebody out there looking for EVERYTHING, and with the advent of the internet we can see just how varied everybody’s tastes really are. So it’s really no longer accurate to say that the industry is “caught up” with this one trend or that one trend… It would be easy to say that reality porn is the biggest thing right now, and a lot of people would agree with me, but then Pirates was a huge grosser last summer… The market is so big now, and the internet makes it so specific that there are always multiple trends at work, sometimes totally contradictory of each other.
